procreate selection tool not working

you select part of your drawing and then nothing moves - or it just fills with color, or the selection seems to disappear. it's almost never a bug. here's what each symptom means and the gestures that fix it on your ipad.

  1. 1made a selection but it won't move? selection only marks the area - tap the transform arrow (top left) to actually move, scale, or rotate it.
  2. 2selection only fills with color? you've got 'color fill' switched on in the selection panel - toggle it off to keep selecting.
  3. 3selection looks like it vanished? you added feather - the marching-ants edge softens, but the selection is still active.
  4. 4to start over, two-finger tap the canvas to deselect everything, then drag a fresh selection.
  5. 5for a clean freehand shape, tap your start point to close the loop instead of releasing mid-air.
