procreate selection tool not working

you select part of your drawing and then nothing moves - or it just fills with color, or the selection seems to disappear. it's almost never a bug. here's what each symptom means and the gestures that fix it on your ipad.

a selection only marks the area - to move or scale it you have to tap the transform arrow afterwards. if it fills with colour instead, 'color fill' is switched on in the selection panel; two-finger tap the canvas to clear a selection and start again.
