open a raw file in affinity and it drops you straight into the develop studio - a separate raw mode with its own panels. people get stuck because the normal photo tools aren't there yet; you have to finish developing first. here's the basic raw pass and how to hand off to the editor.

- 1open your raw file - affinity automatically opens the develop studio (older versions call it the develop persona).
- 2pick the white balance tool from the tools and click a neutral grey or white area to fix the colour cast.
- 3in the 'basic' panel on the right, set exposure, contrast, blacks and whites.
- 4open the 'detail' panel to add sharpening and reduce noise if needed.
- 5click 'develop' on the top-left context toolbar to commit the edit and move into the photo studio for masks, retouching and layers.

you're in the develop studio, which only has raw tools - click 'develop' and affinity switches to the photo studio where layers, masks and retouching live.
do i lose the raw data after i click develop?
choose the 'raw layer (embedded)' output option before developing and you can return to the develop studio to re-edit; the 'pixel layer' option bakes it in.
