affinity photo develop settings reset

you develop a raw file, go back to tweak the exposure, and every slider is back to zero. it's not a bug - by default affinity bakes the raw into a flat pixel layer and throws the settings away. the fix is choosing the right output option up front. here's how.

  1. 1this happens because you developed to a 'pixel layer' - that flattens the raw and discards your slider settings.
  2. 2next time, before clicking develop, open the 'output' menu on the context toolbar and choose 'raw layer (embedded)'.
  3. 3now develop - affinity keeps an editable non-destructive raw layer with your settings intact.
  4. 4to re-edit, select that image layer and click 'develop' again (or right-click the layer > develop) to reopen the develop studio with your sliders where you left them.
  5. 5note: the output choice is locked once set on first open, so decide before you develop the first time.
