how to learn sketch
the fastest way to learn sketch is by doing it, not watching. ask out loud in sketch and HeyBraza points at the exact button on your own screen, then walks you through it - so every fix below is a rep on your real work, not another video.
9 hands-on fixes & how-tos · every guide below is a hands-on answer you do yourself, with a screen-aware demo.
sketch trouble clusters around two things: symbols and export. an override does not stick because the nested layer was renamed or the symbol was set to fixed. export assets sits greyed out until a slice or a layer is actually marked exportable in the inspector. png output comes back pixelated because the export preset is still at 1x. svg export drags along effects that svg cannot represent. and after a macos or sketch update the plugins menu can simply vanish, taking every installed plugin with it and leaving no obvious way back.
you will find symbols covered from both sides here - creating one, and repairing overrides that refuse to apply. the export group runs deepest, since that is where the real time goes: assets at 2x and 3x for retina, clean svg output, the greyed-out export button, and blurry png results. stacks handle layout and resizing without manual nudging. prototyping covers linking artboards into a flow you can click through. and the plugins pages deal with a missing menu and installs that will not take.
next time export assets is greyed out, do not alt-tab to a forum. hold the key, ask what is wrong, and HeyBraza looks at your document as it stands - your selection, your inspector, your artboard - then answers by voice while a teal dot marks the make exportable button in the inspector. clicking it is your job on purpose. the withheld answer is what turns a fix into a rep, and reps are the only reason anyone gets fast in a tool.
