how to add bleed in canva for printing

braza points at the buried 'show print bleed' toggle and the download checkbox so you don't miss either.

if you're sending a design to a real printer, you need bleed - a little extra background past the trim line so there are no white edges. canva hides this in two separate places, so here's exactly where to switch it on and how to export it correctly.

or do it yourself

  1. 1open your design and click 'file' (or the '…' more menu) in the top-left.
  2. 2go to 'settings' and turn on 'show print bleed' - a dashed margin appears around the canvas.
  3. 3extend any background colour or image all the way to the outer dashed line so nothing important sits in the trim zone.
  4. 4click 'share' → 'download', choose 'pdf print', and tick 'crop marks and bleed'.
  5. 5download - your printer now gets the bleed it needs.
