how to look through the camera in blender
HeyBraza points at the view menu route and the emulate-numpad setting, so laptop users stop hunting for numpad 0.
camera view is numpad 0 - which is useless on a laptop with no numpad. there are two other routes, plus a lock that lets you fly the camera around like a normal viewport.
or do it yourself
- 1with a numpad: hover the 3d viewport and press numpad 0 to toggle in and out of camera view.
- 2no numpad: use the header menu 'view' > 'viewpoint' > 'camera' - same result, no keys needed.
- 3make the shortcut work anyway: edit > preferences > input, tick 'emulate numpad', and the top-row number keys become the view keys.
- 4want to frame by flying? open the n-panel > 'view' tab and tick 'lock camera to view', then navigate normally - the camera follows.
- 5found a good angle in the normal viewport? press ctrl + alt + numpad 0 to snap the camera to exactly that view.

no camera in the scene at all?
add one with 'add' > 'camera', then aim it - or point the view where you want and press ctrl + alt + numpad 0.
why is everything black in camera view?
the camera is probably inside an object or facing away - or the scene has no light. see the black-render fix.
