- 1in the program monitor, click the 'select playback resolution' dropdown (bottom-right) and set it to '1/2' or '1/4'.
- 2this only affects preview quality - your export stays full resolution.
- 3for heavy 4k or h.265 footage, right-click clips in the project panel → 'proxy' → 'create proxies' and edit with the lighter versions.
- 4set an in and out point over a rough section and press 'enter' to render that range (the red bar turns green).
- 5close other apps and, under preferences → media cache, make sure the cache drive isn't full.
