how to apply a master page in affinity publisher

HeyBraza points at exactly where on the pages panel to drop a master so it lands on the right pages instead of just one.

master pages let you design headers, footers and page numbers once and reuse them everywhere - but applying one to the right pages trips people up, especially when it only changes a single page. here's how to apply a master to one page, a whole spread, or every page.

or do it yourself

  1. 1open the pages panel - masters sit at the top, document pages below.
  2. 2for a single page, drag the master's thumbnail onto a page thumbnail and drop; this replaces any master already there.
  3. 3for a whole spread, drop the master onto the spread's page numbers in the pages panel instead of one page.
  4. 4for many pages, cmd-click (mac) / ctrl-click (windows) each page, then right-click and choose 'apply master' → all / odd / even.
  5. 5to stack a second master on top, hold opt (mac) / ctrl (windows) while you drag, or uncheck 'replace existing' in the apply master dialog.
