how to add easy ease in after effects

if your animation feels stiff and mechanical, it's because the default keyframes are linear - they move at a constant speed. easy ease fixes the start and stop, and the graph editor lets you push it further. here's how to apply both.

or do it yourself

  1. 1in the timeline, open the layer property you animated (e.g. position) so its keyframes show.
  2. 2drag-select all the keyframes you want to smooth.
  3. 3press f9 to apply easy ease - the keyframe icons turn into hourglass shapes (or right-click > keyframe assistant > easy ease).
  4. 4for finer control, click the 'graph editor' button (the curve icon) at the top of the timeline.
  5. 5drag the bezier handles on the speed curve to make the slow-in / slow-out as gentle or aggressive as you want.
